A Flicker of Memory

She sat on the couch, as close as a whisper and as distant as a dream.

She possessed an unaffected laughter that called attention to a slight glint in her eyes that, while always there, always shone brighter in moments of happiness. A slight, incandescent glow surrounded her, brightening the dimly lit room. If she knew I was looking, the glow would have been lost. I’d steal glances when I could, trying to be subtle but sensing each look delivered with jackhammer-like force. Better to keep the warmth at arm’s length.

If you get too close, you get burned.

Say no more, man. I feel that way about Bea Arthur, too.

Leave it to the Commander to take a perfectly nice post and crap all over it.

Just living up to my reputation as the gadfly on the rear end of Ryan's blog.

Thank you for being a friend, Bea.

If I was sober, I'd have a decent witticism to post, as it is, I'll settle for a simple, "been there, done that, got the emotional scars to prove it"...

I myself just am in that stage where MEN SUCK. I don't find my usual ahhh how sweet in things. The moral of my story is, love hurts, truth hurts, and people suck. There is no one out there who is your soul mate, wake up you stupid poets who feed us that crap! The only way you are going to find compatability is if the other mate can speak your love language and vice versa. As you can tell I have yet to discover mine.
