In the Heart of Us

There was a heart, bleeding, pumping blood onto the pavement with each strong contraction of its chambers.

There was a heart, clouded with rage, unable to recognize itself.

There was a heart, confused, unsure of its own instincts.

There was a heart, broken, not sure why the hand that once held it so tenderly now snapped it.

There was a heart, rebuilding, taking tentative steps towards happiness.

There was a heart, pure and bright, unaware of its own splendor.

That's beautiful, sweetness. It really is.

Yes, but it gives me the heebie jeebies, thanks to that guy who had his heart torn out on this week's "Alias." God, that was disturbing.

Oh, damn, Commander. Now you've got me thinking of the WORST Indiana Jones movie... you know, with the priests tearing hearts out and that stupid little kid sidekick and Kate Capshaw. Ugh.

Luckily, I skipped that one, just like I skipped "Rocky V" and "Karate Kid III." In my universe, they never happened.
