Vacation Day
I'm on vacation today, so I'm bringing my brain along.
But, to follow up on a request for a string of 80's song quotes to get the party rolling, I'm happy to oblige:
There's always something there to remind me
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
It's a groovy kind of love
Every silver lining's got a touch of grey...
It's poetry in motion
I just died in your arms tonite
When you're talking in your sleep
Our love's in jeopardy, baby...

My pick for ridiculous 80s lyrics: "Is Something I Should Know?" by Duran Duran
"Oh oh, oh, oh people stare and cross the road from me
oh oh, And jungle drums they all clear the way for me
Can you read my mind can you see in the snow
And firey demons all dance when you walk through that door
Don't say you're easy on me you're about as easy as a nuclear war"
You're about as easy as a nuclear war. Riiiiiigght. The kiss-off line of the decade.
Still love a bit of the Duran though.

Thank God no one in that band did any drugs.
I love "The Reflex", which also makes about as much sense as the above lyrics...

This is not a song, but its kinda deals with 80's watched Lost Boys last night, and did you know Jason Patric is Jackie Gleason's Grandson?

I wear my sunglasses at night So I can so I can
What I am is what I am are you what you are or what?
Well can't you see me standing here,
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh can't you see what I mean

Whatcha gonna do? Gonna live my life!
So slide over here, and give me a moment...
Your moves are so raw, I've got to let you know,
I've got to let you know... you're one of my kind. UHHHHH!

When I'm out walking I strut my stuff

we got everything you want
honey, you know the name
we are the people that can find
whatever you may need
we got everything you want
if you got the money honey
we got your disease

No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women
No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder it's dark
Everyone around me is a total stranger
Everyone avoids me like a Psyched Lone Ranger
Everyone
That's why I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so

We're heading for Venus
And still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us
And welcome us all
With so many light years to go
And things to be found
I'm sure that we'll all miss her so
I don't mind you comin' here
and wastin' all my time time
'cause when you're standin' oh so near
I kinda lose my mind, yeah
Together we can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
YOU LIVE FOR THE FIGHT WHEN THAT'S ALL THAT YOU GOT!

It takes two to make a thing go right
It takes two to make it out of sight
I really need you tonite
Forever's gonna start tonite
Cos I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted
Wanted
Dead or alive

Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a little romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance
We're going to party
Karamu, fiesta, forever
Come on and sing along!
We're going to party
Liming, fiesta, forever
Come on and sing my song!

I was working aprt time in a five and dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I was a bit to leisurely

There comes a time, when we heed a certain call,
And the world must come together as one.
There are people dying, and it's time to lend a hand,
To life - the greatest gift of all...

There is freedom within
There is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup.
