Video of the Day, 2/22/07
Not a lot in the blog tank tonight…after all, I was up pretty late writing the “Lost” recap last night, but more importantly, I’m in training. Serious training.
What am I training for? A marathon? A triathlon? A biathlon? Nay, none of the above. I have a much loftier purpose. And that purpose is to make it through my brother’s bachelor party this Saturday without ending up in the hospital.
Thing is, I just can’t drink the way I use to, which is a shame to be sure. But with age comes wisdom. In the olden days, ie, my mid-twenties, I would stave off the evil juice that is liquor for a few days prior to the event, in order to properly prepare myself for the onslaught of alcoholic goodness that would await me at the end of the rainbow. But Mature McGee says, “Nay, gentle soul, do not go forth upon that path, for that path is fraught with peril, and with vomit, and perchance, a dragon, if Centerfolds has a stripper named ‘Dragon’ on call that night.”
So right after work, I headed down to the local bar for $2.50 drafts and half-price apps, and here I since, buzzingly blitzed, trying to cobble something together for the eight people who needs their daily Ryan fix. After all, I’d like to think of my fanbase as akin to the fanbase of the Velvet Underground in their heyday: they didn’t have a lot of fans, but every one of them started a band. So, here’s hoping you eight are blogging, otherwise my analogy is shot to hell.
In honor of the night out on the town in good ol’ Boston with a gaggle of good Irish lads (and a few non-Irish blokes as well, but we won’t hold that against them), here’s a little Dropkick Murphys to tide you over until the weekend’s through. And if any of you think I’ll be recapping Saturday night here on the blog, well, yer sadly mistaken.

I'll see your Dragon, sir, and raise you eight drunk Catholic girls, one Protestant, and a Baptist!
