Piece de Resistance
I have the day off tomorrow, because the New York Stock Exchange loves it some Jesus, and as such they close down on Good Friday, and so my company closes down as well. Not a bad trade. So, naturally, I’m spending my precious day off picking out centerpieces for a few hours.
Let’s back up a second.
So, with my brother’s wedding in the past, nothing is really deflecting our attention now from our own wedding, and, simultaneously, nothing is deflecting everyone’s attention from our wedding, either. And the first major push really starts tomorrow, when we have a major summit, if you will, amongst the major players involved in the day. It’s a bit like the cabinet meeting on this past week’s “24”, only ours won’t have Powers Booth scaring the bejesus out of everybody. It’s OK: trying to pick out centerpieces will scare me plenty.
I don’t know quite what to expect out of tomorrow’s session, but I keep thinking of Saruman’s words to Gandalf the Grey: “You have elected the way of pain.” I know I’ll react to some of the items on the agenda the way that Superman reacts to Kryptonite, the way that vampires react to sunlight, the way Lindsey Lohan reacts to underwear. Debilitating fear and revulsion. Can’t quite figure out which parts in particular will get to me, but hey, life’s just full of wonder and merriment, yes?
I’ll be bringing my videocamera along for the ride. The reasons I am bringing it are twofold: one, I’m hoping to create a video montage that will convince my grandfather to once again travel by plane back to the area, and two, I want all the evidence possible if I up and kill the caterer for lingering too long on the choice of salad forks. If I have 18 minutes of footage at my disposal, no jury would convict me.
I’ll give an update on the proceedings at some point this weekend, and as always, on Sunday I’ll deliver another “Lost” podcast.
See you back here soon enough.

I've gotta ask...
Was that you dashing along Boylston Street in miserable weather here in Boston on Thursday afternoon.
'Cause if it wasn't, then there's someone who looks an awful lot like you who works downtown.
I'm randomly in Boston for this ridiculously cold weather in April. Feh. I hold you personally responsible.

I believe the God-awful weather was on Wednesday, yes? If so, it's quite likely you saw me.
And, yes, this weather is all my fault. Mostly because I refuse to believe in fairies. Tinkerbell's dead, and the weather blows. All on me.

Yeah, well, you're dead to me too.
